Complex, chronic and non-healing wounds can be frustrating for patients -- and for their physicians.
The South Shore Hospital Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine can help.
The Center is the only one of its kind in the region to offer comprehensive care for wounds caused by diabetes, circulatory problems, and many other conditions. The Center operates under the medical direction of Dr. Edward Kwasnik. Other physician experts are Dr. Jon Buras, Dr. Wende Buras, Dr. Ralph Froio, and Dr. John Lenehan.
Among the Center's advanced treatment options is hyperbaric oxygen therapy for problematic, non-healing wounds that meet specific criteria. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the patient's bloodstream and assists in the healing of crush injuries, osteomyelitis, skin grafts and flaps, and diabetic wounds of the lower extremity. It is also effective in healing tissue damage caused by radiation and soft-tissue infections.
